At 19h19 yesterday (Tuesday, 12 July) our NSRI Simons Town crew were called to assist the ski-boat Cascade with 6 crew onboard and in calm seas. Her skipper reported that her motors were tangled in crayfish nets, 4 nautical miles South of Cape Point. Spirit of Safmarine III launched and our NSRI rescue vehicle was dispatched to the Cape Point Nature Reserve to assist with radio communications.A tow-line was rigged and our sea rescue craft towed the casualty craft and her crew safely to Simons Town harbor arriving 03h00 this morning. Once at safe moorings no further assistance was required and the owner will make arrangements to have the crayfish netting removed from the motor and to investigate any damage to the motor.
