Jeffrey’s Bay set up a rescue scenario for practice. The aim was to simulate the full circle of events, from call-out to handover to the paramedics. The scenario included an unconscious and unresponsive surfer, as well as a swimmer swept out in a rip. Station 37 crew had to stabilize and assist the patient, instruct the shore crew of medical assistance needed & then safely bring the patient ashore. In the case of the unconscious patient, after bringing the patient ashore, Crew had to start CPR on one of our CPR dolls, before handing the patient over to the Ambulance Crew.
