Yzerfontein – 02 May, 2011: Yacht assisted:At 14h00 NSRI Yzerfontein volunteers were called out to assist the 26 foot yacht Valerie, which had steering failure. They had 2 crew onboard and were in 1 meter swell and a 15 knot southerly wind.Yzerfontein volunteers launched Rotary Onwards and after arriving at the yacht, a tow-line was rigged. We towed Valarie to Mykonos harbor where the yacht was berthed. Skipper Harold Gripper, 70, and his crewman Bennie Marais, 37, from Philadelphia, Cape Town, required no further assistance.
