Sea Rescue – Hopefield – 15 January, 2011: Body of adult male and teenage female recovered:At 17h30 NSRI Mykonos were called out to assist Police searching for a 33 year old man and a 13 year old girl in the Berg River near to Hopefield.Police had been activated and NSRI Mykonos, Metro EMS and a Police Dive Unit were called to assist after it became apparent that the two were missing in the river.A search commenced along the banks of the river and a police dive unit waded into waist high water to search and during the search the body of the man and the girl were recovered.According to reports the female was swimming when she got into difficulty and she went under water. According to reports the man dived in to rescue her but got into difficulty himself and also went under the water.The river was calm and not flowing in the vicinity of where the incident took place.Police have opened an inquest docket. The names of the deceased have not been released.
