This morning NSRI Simonstown were requested to assist the Department of Environment – Oceans and Coasts who had rescued a beached dolphin near to Muizenberg.
Marine officers from the Department of Environment – Oceans and Coasts loaded the 1.5 metre dolphin onto the back of a bakkie and brought it to the rescue base in Simon’s Town. It was loaded onto Spirit of Safmarine III and taken out to sea where it was dropped off in the deep.
The whale carcass that NSRI put out warnings about last night has washed up at Sea point.
After it was spotted floating about a kilometer off Clifton yesterday afternoon, navigation warnings were put out for small craft to be aware of the possible danger. This morning the badly decomposed body was found washing up on the rocks in front of Winchester Mansions in Sea Point.
