NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew were activated following a call from the Sonny Evan Small Craft Harbour reporting a medical emergency on a fishing charter boat at sea in the vicinity of Protea Banks and the vessel heading towards Shelly Beach.
NSRI crew and Med Evac ambulance services paramedics, responded to Shelly Beach where we launched on the local Getsea Skippers Training vessel, What Now.
We rendezvoused with the commercial fishing vessel offshore between Shelly Beach and Protea Banks.
The patient, suffering a medical condition, was transferred onto the vessel What Now and he was taken into the care of a Med Evac paramedic and he was stabilised.
The patient was brought to Shelly Beach Sonny Evans Small Craft Harbour in a serious but stable condition and he was transported to hospital by Med Evac ambulance in a stable condition.
The adult male patient, from Pretoria, is expected to make a full recovery in hospital in the care of doctors and nurses.
