A Zimbabwean man, aged 26, has gone missing, reportedly while wading in the Bot River Lagoon.

At 20h13, Saturday, 14 February, NSRI Hermanus duty crew were activated following reports of a drowning at the Bot River Lagoon, near to Fisherhaven.

NSRI rescue swimmers, our NSRI rescue vehicle, and the SA Police Services, responded.

On arrival on the scene it was determined that earlier a Zimbabwean man, age 26, had gone missing reportedly while wading in the Lagoon.

The missing man was with a friend at the time, a local male - they reportedly regularly fish together at the Lagoon.

NSRI rescue swimmers conducted sweeping line wading search efforts.

Police divers (WPDS - Water Policing and Diving Services) were alerted by Hermanus Police.

On Sunday NSRI Hermanus assisted Police in ongoing search efforts and launched the NSRI rescue craft JetRIB.

Despite extensive search efforts there remains no signs of the missing man.

Police have opened an investigation.

NSRI are informed that Police WPDS will continue in ongoing search efforts.
