Condolences are conveyed to family and friends of a local 17 year old male sadly deceased following a drowning accident near to the Hermanus New Harbour.

At 13h27, Tuesday, 2 December, NSRI Hermanus duty crew, CMC ambulance services, ER24 ambulance services and the SA Police Services responded to the cliff path near to Hermanus New Harbour following reports of a drowning in progress.
On NSRI crew arriving on the scene we joined paramedics conducting CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) efforts on a local 17 year old male.
After all efforts to resuscitate the teenager were exhausted sadly he was declared deceased by paramedics.
The body of the teenager was taken into the care of Police and Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.
Police have opened an Inquest docket.
Condolences are conveyed to family and friends of the deceased teenager.
It appears that the teenager got into difficult while swimming. Friends of the teenager reportedly carried him up to the cliff path after raising the alarm where they were met by paramedics who initiated CPR.
