Police Search and Rescue, assisted by Metro Police Search and Rescue, are continuing in an ongoing search for a male teenager that was reported to be missing at Wedge Beach, Durban, on Friday.
At 18h08, Friday, 8 August, NSRI Durban duty crew and the KZN Surf Rescue Network were activated following reports of a male teenager, believed to be on a local school outing, missing at Wedge Beach, Durban, suspected to may have gone missing in the surf zone.
Police Search and Rescue, Metro Police Search and Rescue, the SA Police Services and NSRI rescue swimmers responded directly to the scene while the NSRI Durban duty crew responded to the NSRI Durban station 5 rescue base and responded in the NSRI rescue vehicle and the NSRI craft Spirit of Surfski 6 was launched.
An extensive sea and shoreline search that continued into the night has revealed no signs of the missing teenager who is believed to be aged 16.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear to NSRI - Police are investigating.
The search is ongoing.
