In two cases, led by Police WPDS (Water Policing and Diving Services), assisted by NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam, Hartbeespoort SRU (Strategic Rescue Unit), Hartbeespoort Law Enforcement and Tshwane emergency services water rescue unit, search efforts are ongoing for two missing men in unrelated cases.

At 15h36, Sunday, 19 January, NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam duty crew and Hartbeespoort SRU (Strategic Rescue Unit) were activated by the SA Police Services following reports of a fisherman missing in the vicinity of the Oberon Resort, Hartbeespoort Dam.
The NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam rescue craft Sea Legs was launched and NSRI joined Police in a search operation, during which the canoe, of the local adult male fisherman, was located and recovered in the area where the missing man was reported to have been fishing - on Hartbeespoort Dam.
SAPS Water Policing and Diving Services, assisted by NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam and by Hartbeespoort SRU, are continuing in ongoing search efforts for the missing fisherman. These search efforts are continuing - led by Police.
Thoughts are with the family of the missing fisherman in this difficult time.
At 09h48, Monday, 20 January, NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam duty crew and Hartbeespoort SRU, while they were engaged, assisting Police, in the ongoing search at Oberon for the missing fisherman, were activated, by Police, following reports of a vehicle discovered in the Hennops River, Hennops, on the border of Gauteng and North West Province.
NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam duty crew, Hartbeespoort SRU, SAPS Water Policing and Diving Services, Hartbeespoort Law Enforcement and Tshwane emergency services water rescue unit, joined Police patrol officers on the scene, where a search commenced for any possible occupants of the vehicle.
No signs of the any persons were located in or around the vehicle during extensive search operations on Monday.
Police opened investigations, for the missing vehicle owner - 36 year old, Timothy van Asche, from Glenferness, Midrand.
Timothy van Asche was last seen on CCTV footage leaving his home in the same vehicle at 03h54, Monday morning, 20th January. Last contact had been made with Timothy at 21h10, Sunday, 19th January.
The vehicle in the Hennops River was recovered and taken into the care of Police as part of ongoing investigations.
NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam duty crew, Hartbeespoort SRU, Hartbeespoort Law Enforcement and Tshwane emergency services water rescue unit, are continuing to assist SAPS Water Policing and Diving Services, in ongoing search efforts at Hennops River, and surrounding areas while Police investigations continue.
There remain no signs of missing Timothy van Asche. Police are leading ongoing search efforts.
