At 07h35, Sunday, 29 December, NSRI Kleinmond duty crew were alerted following eyewitness reports of a body of a man appearing to be washed ashore at Blokbaai, Hangklip.
Off duty Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services officers, in the area at the time, confirmed that the body of an adult man on the shoreline was at risk of being swept out to sea during the turn of the tide, at low tide.
The SA Police Services, assisted by NSRI Kleinmond and WC Government Health EMS, recovered the body of the (at the time) unidentified man that was taken into the care of Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.
Police have opened an Inquest docket.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by Police.
Condolences are conveyed to the family and friends of the deceased man.
