NSRI Mossel Bay duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from the skipper of a Catamaran reporting engine failure

Schalk van Bosch, NSRI Mossel Bay duty controller, said:

At 16h34, Saturday, 7 August, NSRI Mossel Bay duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from the skipper of a Catamaran reporting engine failure and in no immediate danger but adrift off-shore of Santos Beach.

The sea rescue craft Spirit of Safmarine III and Rescue 15 Alpha were launched.

On arrival on the scene a towline was established and we towed the Catamaran to the Marina.

Once safely at a berth no further assistance was required.

At 12h20, Sunday, 8 August, NSRI Mossel Bay duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from a yacht with engine failure off-shore of Santos Beach.

The sea rescue craft Spirit of Safmarine III was dispatched.

On arrival on the scene a towline was established and we towed the yacht to the Marina.

Once safely at a berth no further assistance was required.
