NSRI EMERGENCY
OPERATION CENTRE (EOC)

16 November 2020Island View Shipping and the shipping fraternity pulled out all the stops to raise R500 000.00 for our station in Richards Bay this year despite the year being plagued by a pandemic and no actual golf day taking place. For the past fourteen years Island View Shipping (IVS) has arranged and hosted a Golf Day in Richards Bay. The day has been aimed at bringing the shipping Industry together for a fun filled day of Golf followed by a Dinner Presentation Evening. Most importantly however, the event is arranged to raise funds to support our local station who provide an invaluable service to not only the shipping industry but also to the broader communities in our area.As with other fundraising events this year, the golf day could not take place. IVS remained committed to raising funds to support what we do. Whilst they were strongly aware that it had been an extremely challenging year for individuals and businesses, they decided to reach out to their golf day support base, and see what was possible.IVS informed us that the response was truly astounding. Many regular donors quickly responded saying they would match their previous year’s contribution. The pleasant surprises kept coming. Many donors commented that they were aware of the pressures that the NSRI was under this year, and had decided to substantially increase their already generous contributions. Every single one of these contributions is appreciated. In total, R185 000 was raised by companies and individuals, and Island View Shipping added their contribution to make the final total of R500 000 receivable by NSRI.Each year the funds raised by this event has grown, but this year breaks all previous records. As a small gesture of appreciation, Island View Shipping staff and donors were invited to our station in Richards Bay for the official cheque handover, light lunch and a trip around the harbour. The crew at Station 19 as well as NSRI management cannot express their appreciation enough for the assistance received this year.We would like to thank the following sponsors:Island View ShippingSturrock Grindrod MaritimeRennies Ships Agency (Pty) LtdPacific Basin Shipping (South Africa) (Pty) LtdFairShip SA (Pty) LtdAccess WorldWWW 365 Shipping Pty LtdAlfred H Knight Ukwanda Pty LtdSSD Marine Security & ServicesMentor Shipping Agency (Pty) LtdAfrican Dragon Shipbroking (Pty) LtdCapricorn ShipbrokingStorm Plant HirePhilip HarrisMUR ShippingClarkson Platou (South Africa) (Pty) LimitedDavlink MarineNautilus ShipbrokingPenmarine ShippingLighthouse NavigationKevin RiekertThor Marine Independent Marine ServicesBay ShippingUniversal Pulse 77Ultrabulk South AfricaA&M LogisticsNCT Forestry Co-operative Limited
