TABLE BAY:Marc de Vos, NSRI Table Bay station commander, said:At 12h35, Saturday, 31st October, NSRI Table Bay duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from a 40 foot yacht whose skipper reported engine failure in Table Bay.The sea rescue craft Spirit of Day was launched and on arrival on the scene, in strong wind conditions that increased to gusts at 50 knots, a towline was established to prevent the yacht from drifting and NSRI Hout Bay duty crew were activated to respond in the deep sea NSRI rescue craft Nadine Gordimer.On Nadine Gordimer's arrival on the scene they took over the yacht towline and the yacht was towed to RCYC (Royal Cape Yacht Club) without incident.NSRI shore crew assisted to moore the yacht at the refuelling jetty at RCYC and once safely moored no further assistance was required. SALDANHA BAY:Mike Shaw, NSRI Mykonos station commander, said:At 15h45, Saturday, 31st October, NSRI Mykonos duty crew were activated following reports of a yacht under threat of washing ashore near to Saldanha Bay Yacht Club (SBYC).A harbour support boat was dispatched to the scene by Saldanha Bay Port Control and our sea rescue craft Spirit of Surfski 5 was launched.On arrival on the scene we found the harbour support boat Christa had the casualty yacht under tow and they towed them to SBYC without incident and no further assistance was required.On Sunday, 01 November, NSRI Mykonos duty crew were activated at 04h42, following reports from Saldanha Bay Port Control of a 25 foot Catamaran stuck inside a fish farming cage in Saldanha Bay.The sea rescue craft Spirit of Rotary – East London was launched and on arrival on the scene we found the 3 crew, a husband, his wife and a friend, safe but their boat was inside the fish farming cage and they were unable to get their boat out.We towed them out of the cage and they required no further assistance and they went on their way.-ENDS-
