Deon Langenhoven, NSRI Hermanus station commander, said:A Police Dive Unit are continuing in an ongoing search at Gansbaai harbour for a 10 year old local male child that went missing yesterday after reportedly falling into the water on the outside of the harbour wall.The child had been fishing with friends at the harbour wall. It appears that as they were preparing to go home the child may have slipped and fallen into the water.NSRI Hermanus duty crew were alerted at 16h44, Wednesday 17 JuneThe sea rescue craft Rotarian Burnett was launched and WC Government Health EMS and the SA Police Services responded to the scene.On arrival on the scene it was found that local divers had initiated a search in the water which was joined by NSRI, EMS paramedics and Police.Despite an extensive search no sign has been found of the child and Police divers are continuing in a search.Police have opened an investigation.Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the missing child in this difficult time.
