Marc Rodgers, NSRI Plettenberg Bay station commander, said:At 17h19, Wednesday, 14th August, NSRI Plettenberg Bay duty crew were activated following reports of a male teenager injured at Robberg Nature Reserve.The sea rescue craft Ray Farnham Rescuer and Discovery Rescue Runner were launched and crew in our sea rescue vehicle responded to the Robberg parking area by road. Crew hiked to the scene at South side of Island Beach.Arriving on scene, the 16 year old, from Miami USA, was treated for a leg injury sustained during a group hike at Robberg Nature Reserve.He was secured to our Purpose Designed Rescue Stretcher and taken through the surf and loaded onto our sea rescue craft behind the breakers and brought to our sea rescue station.The patient, in a stable condition, was transferred into a Med Life ambulance and transported to hospital where he received medical treatment before being released.NSRI assisted the remaining 42 students and 7 staff members, a group of Americans on a student tour, to get safely back to the car park without incident.TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONE
