KLEINMOND:Schalk Boonzaaier, NSRI Kleinmond station commander, said:At 10h06, Sunday, 05 May, NSRI Kleinmond duty crew were activated following eye-witness reports of a small dog suspected to be trapped in a crevasse among rocks on the Kleinmond coastline.Our sea rescue vehicle responded, and on arrival on the scene, our NSRI rescue swimmers searched the area. The dog, reported to be a small black or dark brown dog, was no longer there and it's unknown if it got away safely.No reports have been received by local animal welfare of any missing dog that could be related to this incident so our hopes are that the dog is safe.
LANGEBAAN:Mike Shaw, NSRI Mykonos duty controller, said:At 16h45, Friday, 03 May, NSRI Mykonos duty crew were activated following reports of a local 24 year old kite boarder in difficulty off Main beach at Langebaan Lagoon, after wind speeds dropped suddenly and the kite boarder was unable to sail.The sea rescue craft Jacqueline was launched and on arrival on the scene, the casualty was taken on board our sea rescue craft and brought to shore.A local kite surf shop staff recovered the kite that washed ashore and the kite was returned to the casualty who required no further assistance.
GEORGE:Robert van Helsdingen, NSRI Wilderness station commander, said:At 17h17, Thursday, 02 May, NSRI Wilderness duty crew responded to George Dam to join WC Government Health EMS and George Fire and Rescue Services investigating eye-witness claims of hearing shouts for help coming from the dam.The sea rescue craft Oscars Rescue was launched and a water and shoreline search found no sign of any persons in any distress and we monitored the situation over the next few days.With no reports of any persons missing or overdue we suspect this to be a false alarm with good intentions.
WITSAND:Hennie Kok, NSRI Witsand, duty controller, said:At 15h30, Wednesday, 01 May, NSRI Witsand duty crew activated following a request for assistance from crew on a boat with motor mechanical failure at Groenpunt.Our sea rescue craft Breede Rescuer was launched and we rendezvoused with the casualty 4.6 meter rubber duck which had drifted ashore in the wind.We took them under tow and towed them to the Kraaltjie slipway and their boat was recovered and no further assistance was required.
