Brendon Power NSRI Ballito duty coxswain said:On Wednesday, 20th February, at approximately 19h25, NSRI Station 41 Ballito and Netcare 911 ambulance services were activated following a request for assistance from 2 fishermen, angling from rocks North of Thompsons Bay, High Rock, cut off from mainland by the Spring high tide. They had misjudged the tides and become trapped on the rocks in the Bay and in the fading light, needed assistance. On arrival on the scene an NSRI rescue swimmer was deployed and reached the 2 men finding them safe and uninjured but cut off from mainland.A rope line was setup and the two fishermen were secured into life jackets by our rescue swimmer. With Netcare 911 paramedics on stand-by on the rocks, our NSRI crew safely navigated the fisherman across the rocky outcrop and through the Bay to safety. The fishermen; in good spirits, were not injured and thankful for the assistance. No further assistance was required. TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONE
