The Xhora Dam is being built at the Tshinirha Village, near Mthatha. Four of our water safety instructors - Val, Vuyo, Siya and Zanele - have traveled to the area to teach water safety lessons to 3 500 learners at 10 schools in the area thanks to a generous sponsorship from Stefanutti Stocks Roads and Earthworks, who are involved in the construction.

Learners taught: 319 Over the next 2 days we have some bigger schools which are located closer together. One of the teachers commented: 'We really need this type of training here. Our school has dams and rivers close by and the children are not always safe. Not so long ago a child drowned in the river'Our Challenges: The area is rural with poorly maintained gravel roads resulting in long driving times between the schools. One school was listed as 15km away from another but the time taken to get there was almost an hour.
