Our Station Commanders from around the country gather each year for a conference at the time of our AGM.This year, cold water swimmer, Ryan Stramrood, has kindly donated his time as our keynote speaker; he will share his personal story with the theme: Goal setting, dealing with curve balls and the vital role of the perfect team.Other topics on the agenda include: New Technologies in Search and Rescue, The Load Capacity of Volunteers, Standby at Events and Embracing Diversity. There will be an afternoon of workshops including topics such as NSRI Lifeguards, Drowning Prevention, the new ORC search and rescue vessel, amphibious craft. There will also be visits to the survival centre, our surf launch station at Strandfontein and our harbour launch station at Hout Bay.Attendees include three representatives from rescue bases in the pipeline and we look forward to welcoming them into the Sea Rescue family. The conference ends with the AGM and Awards Evening which Mark Bayly has, again, agreed to MC at no charge.Special thanks to Stuart Brink Films, Plettenberg Bay, for donating the photograph used in our invitation.
