Matthys Koch, NSRI Lamberts Bay station commander, said:At 18h30, Wednesday, 11th April, NSRI Lamberts Bay duty crew were activated to assist 6 local fishermen on the Snoek fishing boat 3 Coins suffering motor mechanical problems 3.5 nautical miles North West of Lamberts Bay at fishing grounds.Our sea rescue craft Douglas Murray was launched and on NSRI's arrival on the scene the fishermen were found safe and a tow-line was rigged and we towed them towards Lamberts Bay harbour.Approximately 1.5 nautical miles from the harbour the tow-line was transferred to their fellow fishing boat Alcana and we escorted them with Alcana towing the casualty craft into the harbour without incident.Once recovered no further assistance was required and the operation was completed at 20h30.The fishing boat Alcana and her crew are commended for assisting. -ENDS- TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONE
