PACALTSDORP:Robert van Helsdingen, NSRI Wildreness station commander, said:At 14h20, NSRI Wilderness duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from Police at Pacaltsdorp, near to George, reporting a drowning in progress in a dam.Our NSRI rescue swimmers responded directly to the scene in their private vehicles and on arrival on the scene the SA Police Services, George Fire and Rescue Services, ER24 ambulance services, WC Government Health EMS and a Police Dive Unit were in attendance.No sign of a 19 year old local male who was witnessed swimming in the dam before disappearing under water could be found and a Police diver and two of our NSRI rescue swimmers waded in the water in a sweeping line search in 2 meter deep water and the body of the teenager was located and recovered from under the water.Sadly paramedics declared the teenager deceased and the body of the teenager has been taken into the care of Police and the Forensic Pathology Services and Police have opened an inquest docket.Condolences are conveyed to family and friends of the teenager.TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONE
