We have had a busy couple of weeks in our Durban and Gauteng leg of our Lifeboat Club (LBC).
Janet Burgess addressed groups in Gauteng last week, namely Friends of the Olivedale Library and Douglasdale Retirement Village. She made many new friends and 40 LBC members joined. Twelve generous members added us to their wills in the form of bequests. She also held a small tea for members and a visitor at the tea became a new LBC member.Helen Wienand also hosted a tea for some of the LBC members from Westville.
This week Helen and Janet, assisted by Roy Weinand (crewmember at Station 5), gave a tour of the Durban Base, followed by tea and cake. They all said it was their best day out even though rather breezy.
That evening Janet addressed the Durban North Rotary where a visitor from the UK was present. He was involved with the RNLI back home and was so impressed by our crew here.
