
Ray and Linda Castelyn (parents of Kyle) clap as Captain Hervé Lepage receives his award from NSRI Chairman Ronnie Stein.The 49th National Sea Rescue Institute Awards Ceremony and AGM was held at The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay at 18h00 on Monday 6 June 2016.The Awards ceremony recognised the contribution of the volunteer Sea Rescue crew, as well as others who went beyond the call of duty. This year’s award winners include Howard Godfrey and Ian Hamilton, Sea Rescue volunteers who have served for 45 years.Also present at the ceremony were:
- Surfers Nic Bothma and Abdurahman Farat who rescued Nazley Davids from a rip current in Noordhoek.
- Captain Hervé Lepage of the 277 metre French Bulk Carrier CMA CGM Rossini will receive an award for the rescue of two yachtsmen, Jean Sitruk, 65, from Lyon, France and his crewman Kyle Castelyn, 20, from Strand, Cape Town, after their yacht, the Llama Lo struck a whale and capsized off the Wild Coast.
