File image File imageRieghard Janse van Rensburg, NSRI Jeffreys Bay station commander, said: At 02h45, Wednesday, 22nd June, NSRI Jeffreys Bay duty crew were activated following a request for support from neighbouring sea rescue station NSRI St Francis Bay to assist with a 37 year old Port Elizabeth fisherman suffering chest pains suspected to be from a heart attack aboard the fishing boat Umfana.The fishing boat Umfana were heading towards the Port of St Francis at the time and although expected to reach the Port of St Francis in good time NSRI Jeffreys Bay were going to attempt to rendezvous with the Umfana at sea to render medical assistance. NSRI St Francis Bay medical crew and Private Care ambulance services were on stand-by at the Port of St Francis.The Sea Rescue craft Eddie Beaumont II was launched at Jeffreys Bay and both Umfana and NSRI Jeffreys Bay arrived at the Port of St Francis at the same time.The patient was stabilised at the Port of St Francis and he has been transported to hospital by Private Care ambulance in a stable condition. It has been confirmed from hospital today that the patient is in a satisfactory condition and remains in hospital awaiting medical tests results.TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONE
