Krista Lazzari, Ian Wienburg, Brenda's daughter Pam and Alison SmithIt was a very special day in Melkbos today. We hosted a double blessing ceremony of two brand new rescue boats: 'Rotary's Gift' and 'Spirit of Brenda'.Brenda Wintgen's daughter Pamela joined us from van Wyksdorp in the Klein Karoo, and shared a very moving tribute to her mother. Brenda not only bequeathed the rescue boat, but when she decided to sell her home in McGregor she presented it as a gift to NSRI as a 'place for your crew to holiday with their families, far from the sea with no chance of being called away to a rescue.'NSRI enjoy a wonderful longstanding relationship with Rotary, and their annual Wine Auctions, hosted by Rotary Clubs of Newlands and Table Bay together with the Rotary Clubs of Sandton and Knights Pendragon, have funded numerous boats, rescue bases and vehicles. Thank you to the Rotarians for your on going generosity and for always taking the time to come and celebrate these blessing traditions with us.
