Lamberts Bay. Boat capsizes, 1 survivor, 1 missing, 2 fatalities:

At 17h51 on Tuesday the 08th of March, NSRI Lamberts Bay and NSRI Mykonos duty crews were activated following reports of a small boat with 4 local Lamberts Bay fishermen onboard, capsized a few hundered meters off Muisbosskerm, between Lamberts Bay and Elands Bay.

NSRI Lamberts Bay and NSRI Mykonos, the SA Police Sercices and WC Government Health EMS responded.On arrival on the scene a survivor from the boat was found to be ashore and suffering severe hypothermia and one body was located and recovered on the shore nearby.The survivor was treated by EMS paramedics and transported to hospital by EMS ambulance in a serious but stable condition.While on the scene searching a second body was located in shallow water on the shore and that body was recovered.A search that continued into the late night for a 4th man, aged 63, who is missing, revealed no sign of the man and local Police and a Police Dive Unit will continue with an ongoing search.The 4 meter capsized boat was located and recovered from the shoreline where it had washed ashore.The bodies of the two deceased men, both aged in their early 60's, have been taken into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.The survivor aged in his early 60's confirmed that all 4 men are friends who regularly go fishing together and they had launched to go fishing, as usual, but had capsized in rough 2 meter swell sea conditions.Sincere condolences were expressed to family of the deceased and family of the missing man are being assisted by Police.
