This morning we all gathered at the brand new NSRI Kommetjie boathouse to celebrate the official opening. It was a coming together of our crew, our funders, our neighbours, our colleagues in emergency services and the architects and builders. We shared this momentous occasion with the Rolf-Stephan Nussbaum Foundation and Rotary Club of Claremont - who have both been so generous in their support of this project.NSRI CEO, Dr Cleeve Robertson, complimented Station Commander, Ian Klopper, on his tenacity saying that the mark of a true leader is their ability to push through despite the obstacles. It has taken almost two decades to bring this dream into a reality and finally Station 26 has a home.IMG_5815A big crowd gathered to show their supportNSRI CEO, Dr Cleeve Robertson NSRI CEO, Dr Cleeve RobertsonIMG_5827 Brian Witley of Nussbaum FoundationPaul de Groot, Rotary Paul de Groot, Rotary Club of Claremont Pastor Jegels of Ocean View blessed the rescue base and prayed for the crew Pastor Jegels of Ocean View blessed the rescue base and prayed for the crewIMG_5843IMG_5846 IMG_5802IMG_5804 IMG_5805IMG_5806Bruce Davidson and Brad Geyser Bruce Davidson and Brad GeyserAlison Smith (NSRI Fundraising Manager) with the trustees of the Nussbaum Foundation Alison Smith (NSRI Fundraising Manager) with the trustees of the Nussbaum Foundation: Brian Whitley, Stella Arnott and Mandy Whitley The Jegel family.
