At 14h40 on Friday 11 March Simon's Town Sea Rescue volunteers freed a Juvenile Cape Gannet that was trapped in coils of barbed wire near the False Bay yacht club. Noticing that the bird was in difficulty as they were preparing to launch on an exercise the NSRI crew freed the bird using bolt cutters and called SAN Parks for assistance. SAN Parks kindly took the Gannet into their care.Pictures are available for media download on Sea Rescue's Flickr page.Simons Town bird rescueHerby Meth uses bolt cutters to free the bird.
