At 21h00, Sunday, 31st January, NSRI Gordons Bay duty crew were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) following a request from Police to assist in a search where they had turned their attention to investigate the possibility that a 17 year old local male teenager reported missing at Melkbaai, Strand, on the beach, at 18h00 may have gone missing in the sea.Police had exhausted all options in a land search for the missing teenager and it was feared that he may have gone swimming earlier and may not have returned and that he may be missing in the sea.NSRI Gordons Bay launched sea rescue craft and dispatched a sea rescue vehicle and a WC Government Health EMS rescue squad joined in the search but no sign of the missing teenager could be found and a search was suspended at 01h00 on Monday morning, 01st February.At approximately 03h00, on Monday morning, NSRI Gordons Bay were informed by Police that a body of a male was found washed up on the beach in the vicinity and Police suspect that the body is that of the missing teenager.Police have opened an inquest docket.NSRI Gordons Bay Spirit of Surfski NSRI Gordons Bay Spirit of Surfski
