HARTBEESPOORT DAM: A Search and Rescue operation was initiated on the afternoon of Saturday, 09th January, following a concerned family member reporting family overdue while boating on Hartbeespoort Dam in a severe thunderstorm, with large hail stones.While preparing to launch a sea rescue craft NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam duty crew were informed that the boat and family members had returned safely and no further assistance was required.IMG-20160110-WA0007 HailstoneWITBANK:On Sunday, 10th January, at 13h30, NSRI Witbank duty crew were activated following reports of a boat tyre tube accident at the Gorge on Witbank Dam.NSRI Witbank duty crew launched the sea rescue craft Wavescapes and on arrival on the scene Langamed Ambulance Service were on the scene attending to 2 local 17 year old males, 1 suffering a suspected fractured pelvis and 1 suffering a fractured leg.An 18 year old female was treated for shock.The 2 males were transported to hospital in stable but serious conditions and the female was transported to hospital in a stable condition.It appears that the 2 teenage males were being towed on a floating tractor tyre tube by a ski-boat when the tyre tractor tube is believed to have hit rocks reportedly causing them to be flung off the tyre tube and sustaining injuries.It is believed that the female assisted them in the water before paramedics arrived.
