Robin Fortuin, the Strandfontein NSRI volunteer who saved six people from a rip current in December 2013 was honoured at his rescue base tonight, 15 May 2015.Robin got a job as a lifesaver in Abu Dhabi shortly after his heroic rescue and was not able to be at the NSRI awards ceremony in 2014 where it was announced that he had been honoured with a Gallantry Award, Silver Class.Tonight was a proud moment as NSRI CEO Dr Cleeve Robertson was able to present Robin with his award watched by Robins fellow Strandfontein volunteers, family and friends.You can read the original rescue report here.
