Ian Klopper, NSRI Kommetjie acting station commander, said:At 20h40 on Sunday the 19th of April, NSRI Kommetjie duty crew were activated following reports of red distress flares sighted through dense fog off-shore of Scarborough.We launched our sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF WINELANDS and NSRI Hout Bay were activated and launched the sea rescue craft NADINE GORDIMER.During a search operation we found the fishing trawler PARYSBERG alongside a small boat with two fishermen onboard 1.5 nautical miles off-shore of Scarborough.The fishing trawler PARYSBERG was fishing in the area at the time and when they too spotted the red distress flares and they turned on their bright fishing Halogen lights and the small boat with the 2 fishermen onboard went to the lights and PARYSBERG stood by them until sea rescue arrived.The 2 fishermen had gotten lost in the thick fog and had set off the red distress flare to raise the alarm.The small boat and both men, from Hangberg, Hout Bay, were escorted back to Hout Bay and the crew of PARYSBERG were thanked for their assistance.Once safely ashore no further assistance was required.1-Scarborough-from-above Scarborough (www.villagehomes.co.za) TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONESMS 32287 with your name and a message of support for our Sea Rescue crew
