PORT ELIZABETH:At 20h09 on Sunday the 15th February, NSRI Port Elizabeth duty crew were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) reporting the local 30 foot yacht SAHARA with 5 crew on board suffering motor mechanical failure. They were requiring assistance at the entrance to the Port of Port Elizabeth while returning from an evening Bay sail.NSRI Port Elizabeth duty crew launched the sea rescue craft EIKOS RESCUER IV and on arrival on-scene took the casualty yacht under tow and towed her to her mooring without incident where, once safely moored, no further assistance was required.
ST FRANCIS BAY:At 19h30 on Sunday the 15th February, NSRI St Francis Bay duty crew launched the sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF ST FRANCIS II to rendezvous with the Chokka fishing boat SANTA MARIA reporting a 42 year old crewman from Humansdorp on board suffering a suspected Stroke (CVA).On arrival on-scene 3 nautical miles from the Port of St Francis, in rough sea conditions, the patient was transferred onto our sea rescue craft and brought into Port where the patient, has been transported to hospital by Private Care ambulance in a stable condition for further treatment.
