At 13h15, Monday, 12th January, NSRI Hout Bay duty crew launched the sea rescue craft NADINE GORDIMER to assist a 68 year old Somerset West man, and a 66 year old Simonstown man, two sailors, on the yacht LINAKA that was suffering gear box problems and requiring assistance into Hout Bay harbour.Sailing from their last Port of call Mossel Bay, to deliver the yacht for the yacht’s owner to Hout Bay, they had experienced gear box problems earlier in the voyage. The problem persisted despite temporary repair and on arrival on-scene, 3 nautical miles outside the harbour, a tow-line was rigged from the NSRI sea rescue craft and the yacht was towed safely to her mooring without incident. Once safely berthed no further assistance was required.imageTO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONESMS 32287 with your name and a message of support for our Sea Rescue crew
