MOSSEL BAY:At 10h40, NSRI Mossel Bay duty crew, while launching a sea rescue craft in Mossel Bay harbour at the Mossel Bay Yacht Club, were approached by men on a rubber-duck presenting a female onboard their rubber-duck who had been injured by a wave at Hartenbos earlier and she was suffering a back injury.She had been assisted by the men on the rubber duck and her and her husband had been brought to Mossel Bay harbour by the men seeking assistance when they came across NSRI members and asked for help.NSRI medics treated the 39 year old female from Bloemfontein and an ER24 ambulance was summoned and the female has been transported to hospital in a stable conditionSTRAND:At 12h12, NSRI Gordons Bay were activated following reports of a person disappeared in the water at Strand Pavilion off the Jetty next to Barts Tavern.NSRI Gordons Bay duty crew dispatched sea rescue swimmers, a sea rescue craft and WC Government Health EMS, the Red Cross AMS Skymed rescue helicopter and the SA Police Services responded.On arrival on-scene only one eye-witness claimed that he had seen a person disappear under water at the jetty at Strand Pavilion.An extensive search commenced that was joined by a Police Dive Unit using scuba dive gear and during the search the body of an unidentified male believed to be aged in his late teens or early 20’s was located and recovered from the water at Strand Pavilion and the body has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.Police have opened an inquest docket.No family have come forward to report a missing person.

Search at Strand Beach jetty Pic source: Red Cross AMSFISH HOEK:NSRI Simonstown duty crew assisted Police divers at Fish Hoek this morning where the body of an unidentified man was discovered under water by an employee of the shark spotters while repairing shark nets.Police divers located and recovered the body of an unidentified man and the body of the adult man has been taken into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.Police have opened an inquest docket.NOORDHOEK:CMR (Cape Medical Response), assisted by the Red Cross AMS Skymed rescue helicopter, treated and recovered a 15 year old teenager from the beach who is suspected to have fractured his knee while running on Noordhoek Beach with family.NSRI Kommetjie were placed on alert to assist after access to the beach could not be reached due to swollen rivers.The Skymed helicopter assisted to evacuate the injured teenager off the beach and CMR ambulance transported the teenager to hospital for further treatment.HERMANUS:At 15h00 NSRI Hermanus were summoned to assist Police at the Kleinrivier Lagoon where a body of a man was found floating in the lagoon.The body was recovered and taken into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services and Police have opened an inquest docket.It appears that the 27 year old local man had gone canoeing on the lagoon on Tuesday but had failed to return home but no alarm had been raised until the body of the man was located today.DURBAN:At 12h56 NSRI Durban launched EIKOS RESCUER II to go to the assistance of the fishing charter boat DENZIL S reporting loss of motor power and anchored just off the North Breakwater of Durban’s Port.On arrival on-scene NSRI attached a tow-line to the casualty boat and towed her and her crew and passengers safely to her berthing in Durban’s Port without incident.DENZIL S happens to be an ex NSRI sea rescue craft originally named JOHN ROBERTS and was in service as the NSRI Durban sea rescue craft for many years before being replaced by the sea rescue craft URBAN CAMBELL 30 years ago.
