At 06h00, Sunday, 14th December, NSRI Agulhas duty crew launched our sea rescue craft VODACOM RESCUER VII to go to the assistance of AHI, a ‘chucky’ small open fishing boat, with 5 local fishermen onboard, reporting motor failure at the 12 Mile Bank (fishing grounds off-shore of Struisbaai).
On arrival on-scene attempts were made to restart the casualty boats motor but unsuccessful at restarting the motors, suspected to have water contaminated in the diesel, we took them under tow and towed them to Struisbaai without incident.
