OYSTER BAY:At 20h10 on Saturday the 18th of October, NSRI St Francis Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from the Chokka fishing boat Kamanga reporting a 30 year old local fisherman onboard suffering a chest infection, off-shore of Oyster Bay and requiring the fisherman to be patient evacuated.NSRI St Francis Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched the sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF ST FRANCIS II and on arrival on-scene, in very rough sea conditions with a 4 to 5 meter swell and 35 knot East South Easterly wind, the patient was transferred onto the sea rescue craft and brought to Port St Francis where a Private Care ambulance transported the patient to hospital in a stable condition for suspected Tuberculosis.
GANSBAAI:At 12h18, Sunday, 19th October, NSRI Hermanus volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched Hunters Gold Rescuer to respond to Gansbaai following reports a a rigid inflatable craft drifting off-shore.On arrival on-scene a private boat had already hooked up a tow-line and towed the rubber-duck and her occupants to shore safely and no further assistance was required.
