This morning saw the official launch and blessing of the new rescue runner donated to Station 8 Hout Bay. She was christened Boetie Woltemade after Wolraad Woltemade's fearless horse who helped save the lives of 14 men. The rescue runner will be used for the close in shore rescues where the bigger vessels are unable to go. After the launch and blessing ceremony our guests were treated to a short ride out into the bay to see a quick demonstration on the craft's maneuverability. Light snacks and hot coffee were provided afterwards to warm everyone on the cold drizzly morning.SONY DSC Lyall saying a few words of thanksSONY DSC Cleeve reading out a message from the sponsorSONY DSC Lyall accepting a commemorative certificateSONY DSC Beth Barnard completing the blessing with the obligatory bottle of champagneSONY DSC The crew of Station 8 taking guests out for a short ride to view the Rescue Runner in action
