EIKOS RESCUER IV rendezvoused with the vessel off Port Elizabeth.Thursday, 24th July, 2014.At 08h00, Thursday, 24th July, NSRI Port Elizabeth duty crew were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority following a request for medical assistance from the fishing vessel SOUTHERN STAR reporting a 43 year old crewman onboard suffering head pain (headaches) and requiring to come ashore to be seen to by a doctor.The duty crew launched EIKOS RESCUER IV and rendezvoused with the vessel approximately 3 nautical miles off Port Elizabeth.On arrival on-scene the patient was found to be in a stable condition but suffering head pain and was transferred onto our sea rescue craft and brought into Port where a family member of the patient was on hand to transport the patient to his doctor for treatment and no further assistance was required.The operation was completed at 09h30.
