Kiteboarder assisted at Melkbosstrand

At 13h00 on the 8th June, while conducting routine maintenance at their base, the NSRI Melkbosstrand volunteer sea rescue duty crew noticed a male kite-boarder appearing to be in difficulty in a kelp bed approximately 100 metres off the Melkbosstrand Sea Rescue base.They launched their sea rescue craft DISCOVERY RESCUE RUNNER and on arrival on-scene found the 42 year old man in difficulty. The main lines of his kite had snapped preventing him from getting his kite airborne.He was brought safely ashore aboard the sea rescue craft and his board and kite were recovered. He required no further assistance.
