Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) yesterday proudly announced their 2014 sponsorship of R2 845 228, 48 to the National Sea Rescue Institute for the five ACSA coastal airports which consists of King Shaka International, George, East London, Port Elizabeth International and Cape Town International as well as their Platinum Membership of NSRI.This amount was handed to NSRI CEO Dr Cleeve Robertson in Port Elizabeth last night. NSRI volunteers were publicly thanked for their valuable contribution towards providing a continued sea rescue service to the airports and the public in general.ACSA has been a loyal supporter of the NSRI for more than a decade and is a valued Platinum Partner.Dr Robertson said, “South Africa doesn’t have a state Coast Guard. The NSRI, a charity, was founded in 1967 with a mandate “to save lives on South African waters. This service we have provided with great passion ever since.”“Sea Rescue does not charge the people who we rescue but we rely on donations, bequests and sponsorships to cover the annual running cost of R27,5m. It is great to have ACSA on board as a partner and we are grateful for their continued support.”ACSA PE 2014_07551 Justin Erasmus, Ian Gray, Selwyn Meyer and Cleeve Robertson.
