Normally WaterWise go's into schools to teaches children about Water Safety. This time, we were invited by a Church in Durban North to go and talk to their kiddies about NSRI and Water Wise.Their theme for the month was “Local Heros”, and we at Sea Rescue are their hero's !NSRI volunteer Brian St Clair-Laing and WaterWise Instructor Jacqui McAllistair ( also a NSRI volunteer) went together one Sunday evening, to give them a talk on what NSRI does, and then did the WaterWise PLAN part of the curriculum. They thoroughly enjoyed it, as did their Elders. They enjoyed it so much, that we have been invited to come back to the Church during their holiday programme, to do the further classes on Rip Currents and Bystander CPR.This is a letter from them:Dear BrianOn behalf of the children and team at Kidszone Children’s Church at Rivers Church Durban I would like to thank you and Jacqui for coming out on Sunday evening to present your talk as part of our ‘City Heroes’ series. The children really enjoyed it and learnt a great deal about being WaterWise, being alert and about the purpose of the NSRI. Jackie grabbed their attention with her presentation and they remembered her points well. The 4x4 was also a hit, especially with the boys.Thank you for your time and preparation and we trust the children have a greater understanding of the importance of being careful in the water and of the invaluable work your team does at the Durban station. We hope to see you and your team again in the future and wish you ongoing success with increasing the exposure of the NSRI.Many thanks and warm regardsAdrienne_____________________________________Adrienne Doherty Bigara
