At 17h15 on Saturday the 15th of March, NSRI Simon's Town volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated following reports from Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services that they were responding to Long Beach, Simon's Town, to reports of a child drowning in progress.Our NSRI Simon's Town volunteer sea rescue duty crew prepared to launch our sea rescue craft and rescue vehicle. SA Police Services responded and WC Government Health EMS were placed on alert.On arrival on-scene Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services confirmed that a 7 year old girl was found to already be out of the water and on the beach and their paramedics were treating her for near drowning symptoms.Our NSRI medics assisted the Fire and Rescue Services paramedics on the scene to stabilise her. She was transported to hospital in a stable condition by an SA Navy ambulance that had been summoned to assist.She is expected to make a full recovery.It was not clear what had caused her to get into difficulty in the water and not clear how she had got out of the water.
