Update:The 3 Lamberts Bay fishermen, missing at sea off Lamberts Bay since 18h20 yesterday, 20th March, were located rowing ashore at Doringbaai, North of Lamberts Bay, at 16h30 today, 21st March.All 3 men, Willem Oemeus (27), Vincent Latolla (45) and a Christian Dribble (59), of Lamberts Bay, were found safe and uninjured at Doringbaai.Their propeller had fallen off at sea. After anchoring, they had asked another boat to inform the emergency services of their distress before rowing 14NM to shore.They are reunited with their families. Original story:At 18h20 (Thursday, 20th March) NSRI Mykonos volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated following reports from 3 Lamberts Bay fishermen aboard a small open fishing boat that their craft sustained engine failure and they were at anchor 14 nautical miles South West of Lamberts Bay.A search during the night revealed no sign of the fishermen and NSRI Melkbosstrand responded to continue with the search today, Friday, 21st March, and NSRI Mykonos have launched their deep-sea rescue craft to join the NSRI Melkbosstrand sea rescue craft in the search operation.A Red Cross Air Mercy Service Pilatus fixed wing aircraft has also joined in the search.Despite the extensive ongoing search no sign of the 3 fishermen on the small open fishing boat has been found and an extensive search is continuing.Family of the three men are on the scene and are being supported and kept up to date with the search operation by NSRI commanders who have set up a JOC (Joint Operations Control).Lamberts Bay harbour file picture.
