WaterWise Eden kicks off for 2014:

Education, Water Safety, WaterWise / 7 February 2014

Children from Thembalethu Primary learning the emergency number 10177

WaterWise Instructor Liza Wigley reports:

It was with great anticipation that I awaited the new school year to start!  I was delighted to be back teaching the kids. When a teacher at MM Mateza Primary wrote on the presentation report, “The presenter has an interest and passion of her task”, it made me realise that that is what I feel, passionate about what I am doing.
I have been to mainly Xhosa speaking schools this term, and the teachers are doing an excellent job in translating for me.  There is always a teacher or two staying behind to chat, often about incidents that happened to them, from swimming in a rip current, to now knowing how to avoid it next time, to a grandchild almost drowning in a bucket of water while she was washing the car, and not knowing that it was possible for a child to drown in a bucket.

Luckily a family member immediately did CPR, and the infant was saved.
I am looking forward to the year ahead.

WaterWise Eden is kindly sponsored by the Department of Agriculture.
