Last night Celia Gericke from Bodyline (A Personal Training & Pilates Studio) visited our station to briefly lecture our crew on different health and fitness tests that can be taken e.g: BMI, Waist to Hip Ratio and the Skin Fold Calliper test. Celia also touched on the different body classifications - Endomorph, Mesomorph and Ectomorph. Being in the fitness industry for the past 35yrs instructing, assisting with rehabilitation of injuries, and inspiring anyone and everyone to lead a healthier lifestyle by doing something rather than nothing, she praised Sea Rescue's approach to install a healthier lifestyle for their crew. After demonstrating the skin fold calliper test the crew were given a basic warm up then split into two for an alternating standing and mat-work circuit (demonstrated by Celia and Lorraine) that could be done anywhere making use of your own body weight. After completing 8 standing (heel raises, squats, tricep dips, leg raises) and 8 floor items (push ups, plank, bicycle, sit ups) done for a minute each we voted not to repeat the circuit, but rather go into a stretching cool down. It was quite a workout even for the fittest in the group but fun was had by all.Imparting a last bit of advice to work towards - Celia gave us The Big Five in the fitness industry that if done every second day (as your muscles need to rest in between) you will be well toned.50 x Lunges50 x Pushups50 x Squats50 x Tricep Dips50 x Abdominals
