Learners took off to the Berg river for a cool splash when temperatures in Paarl hit an all time, sweltering, if 47 degrees Celsius this week! Swimming facilities are overcrowded due to the heat wave. The WaterWise Academy highlights the dangers of swimming in a river when we teach the children in their classrooms. Besides the unpredictability of a river the water is murky and therefore contains hazards that can’t always be seen. Diving or swimming in water you cannot see into is risky because you do not know what lies beneath the surface.Accidents occur easily. Call 10177 in case of an emergency for immediate help. This WaterWise Instructor is proudly sponsored by TNPA.river 1
