Table Bay tow Isla into port

On Tuesday 7th of January 2014, NSRI Table Bay was put on standby to help bring the Cape2Rio yacht Isla into port. The yacht had suffered a fire on board and was being towed into Cape Town by the salvage tug Smit Madura. After a long two days of towing the yacht, Smit Madura finally entered Cape Town. Due to her size, Table Bay was asked to dispatch their rescue vessels to take over the tow and take the yacht the rest of the way to Royal Cape Yacht Club.NSRI Table Bay's two rescue vessels, Spirit of Vodacom and Rotary Endeavour were activated and launched at 17:00. Spirit of Vodacom rendezvoused with Smit Madura at 17:25 about 4 nautical miles West of the port and took over the tow. Once into the yacht club basin, Rotary Endeavour, with the help of Royal Cape's small tender, helped nudge the yacht onto the jetty where relieved family and friends were waiting.
