On Tuesday the 15th of October Damar Davids, a teenager from Klerksdorp's Hoerskool Skoonspruit, was caught in a treacherous Wilderness rip current. Fortunately he is a strong swimmer, and with the assistance of his school friends he got out of the current and back to the beach.His teacher meanwhile had activated NSRI.Well done to the learners and teacher for managing a potentially dangerous situation very well.Today the children all went to NSRI Mossel Bay where they were given a water safety talk and shown our video on rip currents by our NSRI volunteers and local WaterWise Instructor, Liza Wigley.Dawmar shows how he waved for help ... “Never again, will I end up in a rip," said Dawmar Damar Davids shows how he waved for help ... “Never again, will I end up in a rip,' said Damar.
